Gloucester BZA to vote Tuesday on firearms repair business

The Gloucester County Board of Zoning Appeals will vote on a special exception application for a firearms repair business at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the colonial courthouse.

A public hearing on the application was held at the BZA’s regular meeting in June. As only four members attended, the board decided to postpone its vote until this month’s meeting, according to Linda Sprague, an assistant in the Gloucester Zoning Office.

No more public comment on the matter will be received, Sprague said. Applicant Peter W.T. Maxwell is seeking the special exception to establish a home occupation at 7316 Our Way Lane near Gloucester Court House. Maxwell said in his application he wants to repair and clean firearms and will not keep any inventory of firearms or ammunition for sale on the property and no firearms will be test fired at this location. The property is zoned single-family detached residential (SF-1).
