Gloucester BZA to meet Tuesday

The Gloucester County Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the colonial courthouse to consider a special exception application to allow operation of a contractor’s office and storage facilities at Hayes.

Rick Bass, president and owner of Carmine Builders, said he plans to purchase several parcels of the former Deep Sea Ventures property at Hayes, which back onto the Riverside Hayes Clinic on Route 17. The property is located on Hayes Road in the Gloucester Point Magisterial District and is zoned Business (B-1).

Bass said he plans to operate a contractor’s office on the site, and to occupy two buildings for storage of construction materials. The buildings have sat vacant for a number of years, he said, and have been vandalized.

There are no plans to construct anything at the site, as all custom construction will be done at customers’ locations in Gloucester, he said. ...
