Gloucester BZA approves two animal-related variances

The Gloucester County Board of Zoning Appeals approved two special exception requests during its Oct. 25 meeting in the colonial courthouse.

Applicant Michelle Morgan Hall received the go-ahead to establish a dog kennel with an embedded variance of 64 feet to special exception criterion “A,” which requires that all structures and activity areas shall be located at least 100 feet from all property lines.

Hall also sought a reduction in the minimum required acreage of two acres for five pygmy goats as allowed under the county’s Zoning Ordinance. However, planner Tripp Little said that the board approved allowing only four pygmy goats to be kept on the roughly acre-and-a-half site.

The property, which is owned by Michelle M. and John R. Hall, is located at 10861 Woods Cross Road and lies in the Petsworth Magisterial District and zoned Rural Countryside (RC-1).
