Gloucester becomes V3 Certified Employer

Gloucester County has become a V3 (Virginia Values Veterans) Certified Employer, the county’s Human Resources Department announced last week.

V3 is a Virginia Department of Veterans Services program whose mission is to educate and train employers throughout the commonwealth on the value of Virginia’s veterans, and to help employers connect with these personnel to maximize the productivity of their workforce.

As part of the certification process, the county’s Human Resources staff learned why it is a good business decision to recruit, hire, train, and retain veterans, implementing best practices in these efforts.

“This has been a priority of ours for quite some time,” said Elaine Johnson, Gloucester’s Director of Human Resources. “It’s a big step in letting prospective employees and the community know how much we value our veterans and understand what assets they can be to our organization.”
