Gloucester beats Bethel in OT, 23-20, for second win

For the second week in a row, the Gloucester Dukes football team walked off with a win in dramatic fashion, beating the visiting Bethel Bruins in overtime, 23-20.

Gloucester scored in the closing minutes of regulation play to force an overtime period, and kicker Andrew “Taco” Coxe connected on a field goal in OT as Gloucester notched its second win of the year.

Gloucester scored on its first possession, led by running backs Joren Brown and Parker Jowers. With the ball around midfield, offensive lineman Jordan Roane pulled on an outside run play and kicked out the Bethel defensive end, levelling him in the process. This created a massive hole for Brown, who picked up a crucial first down.

The big hit by Roane and run by Brown galvanized the Dukes, who promptly drove to the goal line. Jowers punched in the rushing touchdown to help the Dukes take a 7-0 lead.
