Gloucester Baystars celebrate winning weekend

Baystars youth soccer teams competed in a lineup of games over the weekend. Gloucester Baystars youth soccer teams celebrated a winning weekend among the Captains, Threshers, Tigersharks and White Caps.

Captains

The Baystars U13 Captains hosted the VA Rush Nero at Woodville Park, Gloucester, and won, 3-1, during their home season opener.

Owen Thomas scored two goals and Dean Christensen scored one point. Assists were recorded by Hunter Young, Austin Sutton and Thomas. Goalkeeper Ayden Timbal helped secure the win for the Captains.

Threshers

The Baystars U12 Threshers traveled to Churchland Soccer Complex Saturday to defeat the WBSC Thunder, 4-0. During the match, Pabla Ledesma scored two goals and Chase Newton and Timothy Dutton scored one goal each. Seth England recorded two assists, while James Simolon and Mason Jordan recorded one assist apiece.

Tigersharks

The Baystars U11 Tigersharks defeated the Beach F.C. Falcons, 4-3, Saturday at Hampton Roads Sports Complex.

The Tigersharks worked together to find scoring opportunities, resulting in 19 goal attempts. Brayden Bartlett scored two goals during the match. Peter Perez and Ayden Foster scored one goal each and also recorded one assist apiece.

The team also succeeded in 18 defensive stops. Greyson Mahnke and Tyler Washington both served as goalies during the match with two and five saves, respectively.

White Caps

The Baystars U10 White Caps defeated the Beach FC 2014 Cheetahs, 3-0, over the weekend at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex.

Noah Ford scored the first goal with Wyatt Brockenbrough following up with two goals in the second half of the game. Ford, Colton Bergstrom and Oliver Graham all recorded assists during the match.

The team’s defense, led by goalkeepers Triffon Luechauer and Donnie Wolford, allowed zero goals to be scored on the White Caps.

This was the White Caps’ second shutout win of the season. The team will return to its home field at Woodville Park on Saturday, hosting the Chesapeake United SC 2014 Eagles.
