Gloucester Arts Festival to be a month of artistic expression

Throughout June, people near and far can enjoy the Gloucester Arts Festival.

Beginning on Saturday, June 4, guests can attend theatrical and musical performances, watch Plein Air artists from across the country paint the “Heart of the River” collection, take the sculpture walk, and more.

“A Night Off-Broadway” will be held on June 4, beginning at 6 p.m. at Gloucester High School, which will serve as opening night for the festival. Three one-act plays, “The Yellow Boat,” “Princess Party Smackdown” and “Meet Mark Twain” will be performed by GHS students, the Court House Players and the Virginia Stage Company, respectively.

Experience the work of Gloucester’s talented artists during the Heart of the River Open Studio Tour, on June 4 and 5 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. both days. Meet local artists engaged in creating fine art in Gloucester as they open their studios to the public during the Gloucester Arts Festival.
