The Gloucester Arts Festival opens tonight with the unveiling of 10 sculptures created and placed along Main Street by New York artist Jay Lagemann.
The public is invited to meet Lagemann and representatives of the Gloucester Arts Festival at 5:30 p.m. at the Gloucester Brewing Company and walk with them along Main Street as the sculptures are revealed. Lagemann will explain the inspiration for each of the pieces, said a press release.
Afterward, everyone is invited to stop back by the brewing company, which is located in Edgehill Town Center, to enjoy the introduction of a special Gloucester Arts Festival beer.
The festivities will continue on Friday with a talk by Lagemann and a question-and-answer session from 5-7 p.m. at Arts on Main, a festival co-sponsor. This First Friday event will include beer and wine for sale and complimentary snacks inside the gallery, located at 6580 Main Street. No reservations are required.
