Gloucester adds 15 minutes to school day

Starting Monday, students in Gloucester County Public Schools must arrive 10 minutes earlier each day and will be dismissed five minutes later, the Gloucester School Board decided Thursday. Students will also attend classes on June 10, the final snow day listed on the school calendar.

Gloucester students missed eight days of classes due to snow last month, and schools had three delayed openings and one early dismissal. The board had previously decided that some of the time would be made up with attendance on March 9, April 3 and May 4.

Schools will now operate on the following schedule through June 10: elementary schools—8:50 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.; Peasley Middle School—7:35 a.m. to 2:35 p.m.; Page Middle School and Gloucester High School—7:50 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. ...
