A funeral for Gloria J. Solomon-Cook, 68, of Newport News, was held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5 in Cooke Brothers Funeral Chapel, Newport News. She died July 29, 2015.

She was a graduate of Huntington High School and Norfolk State University, and was an elementary school teacher for 39 years for the Mathews County Public Schools. 

Survivors include a sister, Joyce A. Brown.
