GLORIA FAYE SMITH

Gloria Faye Smith, 80, of Hayes, left her earthly home and entered her heavenly home on Dec. 19, 2016.

Gloria was a lifelong resident of Bena. She had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. She was retired from Eastern State Hospital.

Gloria worked very hard to raise her children with undying love and a strong level of commitment. Her children were blessed to have such a strong mother of faith who cared for them against all odds. She not only cared deeply for her children, through her heart of gold, she extended love and kindness to all who knew her and she will be missed.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Smith; parents, Boaz and Mary Brown; and her three sons, Sammy Smith, Tony Smith and Keven Smith, and a granddaughter, Theresa Gail Smith.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Matthew Tyler Smith, Katie Brooks, John Faris and Carl Faris; and their mother, Teresa Smith; sister, Brenda Davis; brother, Charles R. Brown and wife Alvine; nephews, and a host of other family.

Graveside funeral service officiated by the Rev. Thad Decker will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery, Hayes. Friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
