GHS wrestlers take sixth at invitational

Gloucester wrestlers placed sixth overall in the Colon Baker Elite Invitational Tournament hosted by Great Bridge High School Friday and Saturday. The hosts won the tournament with five champions, and were followed by Ocean Lakes, Poquoson, Grassfield, Turner Ashby and the Dukes in the top six.

Gloucester had two grapplers place second in the tourney. They were Matt Favazzo at 113 with two wins and a loss and Robert Leso at 160 with three wins and a loss. Devon Pullen at 170 was third with five wins and a loss.

 

Fourth-place finishes were achieved by Jordan Schaal at 132 and A.J. Ransom at 138, fifth place went to Jerry Woodlief at 220, and sixth place went to Anthony Monahan at 120 and Thomas Clifton at 220.

The Dukes were scheduled to return to Peninsula District action last night with a host of Menchville and Kecoughtan. They close the PD schedule with visiting Bethel and Woodside on Jan. 9.
