GHS volleyball players earn All-Conference honors

The Gloucester High School boys’ and girls’ volleyball teams recently closed their 2015 seasons with several players earning All-Conference honors.

The Gloucester boys finished in second place during the regular season and were the runners-up in the Conference 10 Tournament. Senior Troy Maples was named the conference player of the year and coach Joshua Nichols garnered coach of the year honors. 

Joining Maples on the All-Conference First Team was Antonio Morales at libero and Jordan Wilson. Setter Jay May was named to the second team and Ellis Finney was an honorable mention.

The Gloucester girls also made their Conference 10 tourney but lost to Nansemond River, 15-12, in an early round fifth set. GHS coach Christine Wilson was named a conference co-coach of the year. 

Named to the All-Conference First Team were Logan Slusher and Blair South. Cassie Shaffer was named to the second team and Janie Green was an honorable mention. ...
