GHS varsity soccer wins 7th in a row

Although the Gloucester High School boys’ varsity soccer season started off a bit rocky, the Dukes have turned it around with their seventh consecutive win and sixth consecutive shutout as of this week.

Recent games included Friday’s mercy rule 8-0 shutout over Mathews and Monday’s convincing 9-0 win over Heritage. Luke Ferreira earned a hat trick in Monday’s win, with Daniel Bendit (two goals), Connor Mahoney, Chandler Records, Wesley Walker and Chris Morrison providing the rest of the scoring.

The Dukes continued its win streak on Tuesday with a 4-0 victory over the Warwick Raiders, with goals from Yedam Yang, Caleb Hines, Jared Elko, and Ferreira.

The Dukes started off the season rough and fought for a spot in the post-season conference tournament; after competing all season, they have secured a spot in the top eight. They still compete for a higher spot to compete against a lower-seeded team
