GHS varsity ends with 19-8 loss at Phoebus

Gloucester High School varsity football players closed out the 2015 season with a 19-8 loss to host Phoebus last Thursday. The Dukes finished up the schedule with a 3-7 overall record and 2-7 among Peninsula teams. 

The Phantoms (9-1, 8-1) were limited to just one touchdown in each of the first three quarters of the game but held a 19-0 advantage going into the fourth. Gloucester got on the board in the final period when quarterback Elijah Shaffer threw a 14-yard scoring pass to Owen Rousselle. Shaffer found Rousselle again for an extra two points.  Shaffer completed six of 20 passes on the night for 68 yards with just one interception. Rousselle caught three of those throws for 21 yards, John Patterson caught one for 24 and Allah Armstead had one for 13. The Dukes were held to just 34 yards on the ground. 

On defense, Brady Barefoot racked up 12 tackles and two assists and Cameron Walker had four tackles and a quarterback sack. ...
