GHS track kicks off spring season

The Gloucester High School track team had its first meet of the season last Wednesday, May 5 at home. Gloucester competed against Menchville, Bethel, Kecoughtan, Heritage, Woodside, Denbigh, Phoebus and Hampton.

Mya Baker took first place in the girls’ 1,600m run with a time of 6:03.42. Following Baker was Nicole Pinder in second place with a time of 6:08.41. Next for Gloucester was Emily Shipe in third place (6:58.69) and Lilly Bane coming in fourth (7:15.11).

In the girls’ 200m dash, Dakota Dunlap ran a 31.55 and Taylor Hawkey ran a 32.02. Also competing in the race were JV runners Kaylee Hall (31.66), Reese Miller (32.30), Tai Sewell (32.58) and Abigail Junker (34.30).

Abby Brown completed the girls’ 400m dash with a time of 1:25.47. Gloucester JV team members Sewell (1:13), Kendall Lands (1:16.84) and Des Gamble-Coleman (1:23.31) also participated in the race.
