GHS track athletes earn 36 personal bests

The Gloucester High School Invitational Track and Field Meet drew 18 teams and 570 athletes to the GHS stadium on Saturday. The Gloucester competitors recorded 36 new personal records and had 10 conference meet qualifiers, three regional meet qualifiers and two state meet qualifiers.

The state and regional meet qualifiers were Mia Robinson and Justin Garcia. Robinson won the pole vault with a leap of 9’6” and Garcia won the 400-meter dash in 50.20. Joshua Shackelford had a time of 4:29.33 in the 1600-meter race to earn regional qualification.

Vivian Pryor threw the shot put 28’10” and Madison Hutson threw the discus 91’2” to put both in the conference meet. Jasmin Scott, Ruby Williams, Hutson and Robinson combined in the 400m relay for third place in 52.49.
