GHS to hold homecoming parade Friday

Gloucester High School is celebrating Homecoming 2011 this week and the activities will include a parade down Main Street that begins at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The parade route stretches from Newington Baptist Church to the Main Street Center, Gloucester.

The parade will feature floats and the GHS 2011 homecoming court, including seniors Kaitlin Bowen, Donna DeBaun, Vanessa Gray, Elani Paredes, Denton Brandy, KaSean Lockley, Bryce Rilee and Landon Smith. Also in the court are juniors Sydney Early and Charlie Hardaway, sophomores Brooke Slavnik and Timothy Steele, and freshmen Samantha Fudella and Andrew Mortensen.

Younger children participating in the parade will be bused to the lineup site from a "safety zone" in the Walmart parking lot, and then bused back to the safety zone after the parade ends. Organizers made the change for the safety of the younger children and to help alleviate traffic congestion along Main Street.
