GHS tennis blanks Denbigh, Phoebus

The Gloucester girls posted two more Peninsula District tennis sweeps in recent play to stay perfect with one regular season match remaining. The Lady Dukes blanked Denbigh last Thursday and Phoebus on Tuesday.

Against the Patriots, first seed Christine Riddett won 6-0, 6-1 and second seed Olivia Edwards won in straight 6-0 sets. Third seed Nicolle Conry and fourth seed Hope Warren won in straight 6-1 sets and the fifth and sixth seed matches were defaulted by Denbigh. In doubles, Riddett and Edwards won 8-0, the second seed doubles was defaulted by the Patriots, and Warren and Rebecca Bish won 8-1.

 

At Phoebus, Riddett and Edwards won 6-1, 6-0, and Conry won in straight 6-0 sets without giving up a point. Fourth seed Warren won 6-0, 6-1, fifth seed Katie Masiak won 6-2, 7-5, and Jordan Simpson at sixth won in 6-1 sets. The Gloucester doubles pairs each won their matches, 8-0.
