GHS team sweeps awards at VEX regional robotics qualifier

All three VEX robotics teams from Gloucester Public Schools qualified for the state championships during a regional VEX qualifier held Saturday in Portsmouth. 

The Gloucester High School RoboDukes Team A went undefeated in the Portsmouth tournament and won the Judges Award, the Programming Award and the Excellence Award. Team A members were Payton Blodgett, Charles Milroy, Dalton Ward, Mae Dye, Nathan Schultz, Jeffrey Cho and Carter Lee. 

The Page Middle School Cyborg Eagles competed against both middle and high schools and worked their way up to the championship round where they faced the undefeated RoboDukes. The RoboDukes bested the Cyborg Eagles but the Page team qualified for the state championships with its runner-up finish. 

The Cyborg Eagles were comprised of Nick Barefoot-Garcia, Macey Cohn, Robin Cox, Nick Hoskins and Chera Ward.  The GHS RoboDukes Team B made it to the quarterfinals on Saturday and returned home believing the season was over for Team B...
