Leah Procopi, a rising senior at Gloucester High School, participated in the Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars (VASTS) Academy held July 8-14 at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton.

Prior to the academy, the 144 participants completed a six-month interactive distance learning course that focused on aerospace exploration to prepare them for their work at NASA Langley. At NASA, the students toured facilities, gained experience with NASA researchers, met astronaut Roger Crouch, and participated in workforce situations. They also received college credit for their participation.
