GHS student receives diploma at school board meeting

Gloucester High School senior William Kyle Pate received his high school diploma in a brief ceremony during the Feb. 11 meeting of the Gloucester County School Board in the T.C. Walker Education Center. 

GHS Principal Craig Reed said Pate undertook learning to play the guitar as his Senior Independent Research Study. He also said Pate’s two final semester teachers described the student as “respectful, responsible and engaged” and as a “trustworthy and responsible student.”

A few other students completed their GHS studies last semester but chose to march with their fellow 2020 graduates in June rather than attending this month’s ceremony, according to the GHS counseling office. 

In personnel items, the board appointed Catherine Perdue of Newport News, Kelly Revere of Hartfield and Kathleen Scott of Gloucester to support services positions.
