GHS softball win-loss record at 13-3

Heading into the final week of regular-season play, the Gloucester High School varsity softball team boasts a 13-3 record, picking up wins over Hampton and Bethel and losing by a 1-0 margin to a tough Warwick foe.

Hampton

Kirsten Greene pitched a perfect game, striking out eight and hitting a two-run home run as the Dukes beat the homestanding Hampton Crabbers last Wednesday, 22-0. Greene (7-2) also added a single in the win.

Bridget Motley and Courtney Hall contributed three hits each and combined for seven RBIs. Motley singled in the first inning and then again in the second for her 100th hit of her high school career.

Mackenzie Smith, Jessica Hogge, Malaika Rilee and Emma West each had a pair of hits. West hit a long two-run home run in the second inning.

Bethel

Gloucester pounded out 17 hits in a 20-1 rout of the Bethel Bruins on Friday afternoon. Smith picked up the victory and had four hits including two doubles, a triple and five RBIs. The sophomore right-hander struck out...
