GHS softball improves record to 14-3

The Gloucester varsity girls’ softball team swept a doubleheader at I.C. Norcom in Portsmouth on Tuesday to improve to 14-3 overall. The Dukes also cruised past Hampton, 10-0, last Thursday to better their Conference 10 record to 2-1.

In game one with Norcom, Gloucester’s Kirsten Greene improved her record to 12-3 with a 13-strikeout no-hitter in the 17-0 victory. Emma West was 3-for-3 with two triples and five RBIs. Laura Tobin added two hits and two RBIs and Jackie Tobin had two hits. 

In the nightcap, Kayla Tobin (3-0) came within two outs of pitching her own no-hitter but settled for a one-hit 14-0 shutout. Tobin also contributed a hit in the win.

West continued her big day, going 2-for-3 with a triple, home run and seven RBIs. The sophomore first baseman had a total of three triples, a home run and 12 RBIs on the day.

Bridget Motley had two hits and two RBIs and Laura Tobin, Jessica Hogge and Autumn Burgess each had two hits.
