GHS softball defeats Heritage, Hampton

The Gloucester High School varsity softball team did not give up a single run during its past three games against Heritage and Hampton.

The Lady Dukes defeated Heritage on the road last Wednesday, April 20, 26-0. Senior pitcher Jayanna Richards gave up only one hit while striking out 10 for the win. On the offensive side, Richards had a pair of hits, including a two-run homer, driving in a total of six runs. Hailey Hardaway added a double and a triple with five RBIs and Maddy Nuttall contributed two doubles and six RBIs.

Gloucester completed its two-game sweep of Heritage, beating the Hurricanes, 20-0, on Friday at home. Richards threw a perfect game, striking out eight batters. Hardaway had two hits, including a third inning grand slam. Grace Sinko-VanLiew added two hits and three RBIs.

Hampton
