GHS softball at 11-2

The Gloucester High School varsity softball team is at 11-2 after splitting a pair of games in recent play.

Nansemond River handed the visiting Dukes their second loss of the season on Tuesday in the Conference 10 opener for both teams. Gloucester committed three errors that led to three unearned runs.

The Dukes had opportunities to score but could not push any runs across the plate. Tori Brown led the offense with two hits, Morgan Haywood had a double and base hits were contributed by Macy Robbins and Bridgett Motley.

Fifteen hits in the final four innings propelled Gloucester to a 14-2 win at Churchland on April 20. The Dukes’ bats were dormant for the first three innings and the team trailed, 2-0, going into the top of the fourth.
