GHS soccer starts strong; boys 5-0-1, girls get two wins

The Gloucester High School varsity soccer teams started off strong with one tie and five wins in the first week of the season. The varsity boys’ team tied, 3-3, against Jamestown during their home game on Wednesday, March 18, which went into double overtime. Goals were scored by Carter Thompson, K.J. Wolford and Corey Skay, with assists by Wolford and Gavin Seitz. The boys battled back from three goals down, said coach Peter LeBel, with great team effort. At Friday’s home game, the boys shut out Lancaster, 8-0. The first goal was an own goal made by Lancaster, followed with goals scored by Mason Schmidt, Kollin Wilson, Skay, Rory Dodier-Fernandez, Brody Sutton, and two by Tristan Gothreau. Assists were made by Skay, Wilson and Camden Bower. The boys brought home an 11-0 win against Lakeland Monday, with two goals scored by Skay, followed by Schmidt, Wilson, Max Bell, Tristan Gothreau, Bryce Fisher, Seitz, Bower, Dodier-Fernandez and Hunter Valentine.
