GHS soccer shuts out Phoebus 14-0 on Senior Night

The Gloucester High School boys’ soccer team didn’t disappoint the fans who came out for Tuesday’s Senior Night contest, as the Dukes rolled over the visiting Phantoms 14-0, led by senior Connor Mahoney’s hat trick.

Mahoney played the game in attack as opposed to his normal position as a starting defender, and he rose to the task. Perhaps the most significant goal of the night came from fellow senior Cody Jaquysh. Although playing goalie all season long, including Tuesday’s game, Jaquysh managed to score a penalty for his first goal of the season and even came close to scoring again with a free kick in the second half.

Other seniors honored at the start of Tuesday night’s game included Wesley Walker, Caleb Hines and Jared Elko.
