The Gloucester High School varsity boys will take on either Bethel or Warwick on Tuesday in their first match of the Peninsula District Soccer Tournament at GHS. Gloucester, which finished 7-1-1 in the district, is the second-seed team in the tournament behind 8-1 Kecoughtan.
Gloucester finished the regular season schedule with a 1-1 struggle against Warwick last week. The Raiders opened scoring early in the game, tapping one in close range after a long cross. The Dukes quickly found their rhythm and began to dominate possession. Dylan Wyco finally found the net early in the second half to tie it up.
Gloucester continued to heap pressure on the visitors for the remaining half hour. However, after two overtime periods, neither team managed to break the deadlock and the contest was declared a draw.
