GHS senior four girls advance to nationals

The 2012 rowing season will continue for the Gloucester High School senior four of Elizabeth Keane, Kendall Worland, Gabby Lauer, Hannah Beverage and coxswain Matt Hendrix.

The state champion rowers are headed to the Scholastic Rowing Association of America’s National Championships in Camden, N.J. this weekend.

The senior girls four placed 15th out of 50 boats in its time trial at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta last weekend and went on to place fifth in the semifinals. The senior boys four of Logan Hutson, Joel Kidd, Jeremy Frush, Chris Smith and coxswain Meagan Martin finished 29th out of 47 in 5:01.83 in the trials and did not advance. This four will only lose one senior rower to graduation and should have another good season in 2013.

The junior four of Brianna Priode, Maddie Hutson, Mikaela Extine, Hannah Cagle and coxswain Kaitlyn Thompson was 32nd out of 58 in the trials with a time of 5:37.98 and did not advance, but also has potential for seasons ahead.
