GHS sends McGee to state meet

Gloucester High School sophomore Megan McGee will compete Friday and Saturday in the VHSL Group 5A Cross Country Meet on the Great Meadows course at The Plains. 

McGee finished 20th overall in a field of 134 runners in the 5A South Regional Meet held Nov. 4 to qualify for the state event. She posted a personal record time of 20:27.73 and had the third highest finish among all Conference 10 competitors. 

The GHS girls finished ninth among 19 teams at the regional, with the top six teams earning state meet bids.

Finishing behind McGee were teammates Chasity Lass at 47th with a new personal record time of 22:02.8, Mia Robinson at 48th in 22:06.33, Lauren Hill at 60th in 22:24.75, Brooke Cheatham at 69th in 22:46.82, Ali Adickes at 74th with a new PRT of 23:01.07 and Gibson Hylton at 93rd in 23:58.02.  The Gloucester boys finished 13th among 20 teams, led by freshman Joshua Shackelford at 42nd with a new PRT of 17:26.96.
