GHS runners sweep dual meet

Gloucester High School swept the cross country dual meet with Hampton at Gosnold’s Hope Park on Sept. 24, with both the boys and girls winning, 15-50. 

Megan McGee led the GHS girls with a first-place finish in 21:52. She was followed by Lauren Hill and Erin Bristow at second and third, respectively, and junior varsity runner Chastity Lass who was fifth overall. Mia Robins was sixth, Allison Kladler was seventh and Maddy Hogge was eighth. 

Lass, whose finish did not count for the varsity runners, had a time of 23:06 to lead the jayvees. Kalyn Berg was second, Samantha Sigmon was third and Brook Cheatham was fourth. The girls set 11 new personal records in the event.  Joshua Shackelford, also a JV runner, led the boys with a time of 18:47. Chase Holland was third overall followed by Jacob Durren, Aaron Waters, Chase Lanham, David Sadikova, Chris Early and Alex Morales in fourth through ninth place, respectively.
