Gloucester High School cross country teams ran two races this week showing how well they can compete. They ran on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Riverview Park. This was a fun and easy-going race as the team prepared for their big race, the Milestat Invitational, on Saturday.
Saturday’s Milestat Invitational at Pole Green Park was an exceptional meet for Gloucester, having every person entered post a personal best time. The crisp and cool weather along with a flat course led to a great day to run a race.
On the boys’ side the Dukes had Joshua Shackelford (15:45), Tanner Baker (17:01), Conner O’Beirne (17:29), Colton Spence (18:07), Mike Toms (18:08), Justin Burgess (18:13), Josh Ipock (18:39), Donald Calder (18:58), Luke Waters (19:02), Liam Skiles (21:04), and Austin Ezell (22:02) all show up and run great races.
On the girls’ side, Alyssa Lass (20:18), Katie Saunders (21:05), Nicole Pinder (21:49), Marranda Hansford (21:50), Ruby Williams (22:07), Makala White (22:31), Lydia Hart (23:15) and Lauren Dobson (24:05) all showed their competition what they can do.
Yesterday, Gloucester runners were scheduled to go to Newport News Park to run against all the schools in the Peninsula District. On Saturday, they will head to Bells Mill Park in Chesapeake to run against their regional competition.
