GHS runners kick off season at NN Invitational

The Gloucester High School cross country team opened its season Saturday at the Newport News Invitational. The Dukes placed in three of the four divisions they competed in.

Sophomore Anna Robins posted a time of 20:57 well ahead of the second-place runner from Northumberland in 21:30, to easily win the girls’ C race.

The Gloucester junior varsity girls took second place overall in their race, paced by Jasmine Scott in seventh place in 23:49. She was followed by teammate Rachael Peterson, who was 10th in 24:16. Ashley Purrington was just one place away from receiving a medal with a time of 25:16.

 

The Gloucester boys took third place in their C race, led by Blake Waters in third place in 18:14 and Jeremy Frush in 12th place with 19:23.

The Gloucester harriers were scheduled to have their first Peninsula District dual meet yesterday with a host of Warwick and are slated to run in the William and Mary Invitational on Saturday.
