GHS rowers compete at Occoquan, Norfolk

Gloucester High School rowers posted three second-place finishes, one third and two fifths at Occoquan on Saturday.

Placing second were the women’s varsity four of Casey Martin, Bailey Hamilton, Mackenzie Marbain, Ashleigh Dough and coxswain Autumn Rose with a time of 6:02 and the junior four of Rachel Witt, Lindsey Rudasill, Heidi Cooper, Nicole Rilee and coxswain Mitchell Moore with a time of 6:29.

Zach Moore and Chase Holland were second in the double with a time of 5:39. The junior four of Jeb Hutson, Joe Lineberry, Hunter Emanus, James Raha and coxswain Isaac Hankins was third in 5:59 and the second men’s four was fifth. Also placing fifth was the women’s novice eight.

The Gloucester rowers placed in seven out of their nine races and won the efficiency trophy for the second consecutive year at the regional regatta held in Norfolk on Sunday.
