GHS principal to step down

Gloucester High School principal Layton “Tony” Beverage is leaving his position as the school’s top administrator on June 30, school division superintendent Ben Kiser confirmed yesterday.

Kiser said Beverage announced his departure to the GHS staff last week and said the Gloucester County School Board is aware that Beverage is stepping down.

“I have not asked Dr. Beverage to step down, nor has the school board. I’ve been very pleased with his leadership,” Kiser added. Beverage has served as the GHS principal since 2005. He could not be reached this week as the school division is closed for spring break.

The division is currently advertising the principal vacancy with a May 5 deadline for applications. The advertised salary is $105,000 to $115,000. ...
