GHS principal resigns to accept post in Staunton

The Gloucester School Board accepted a resignation from Gloucester High School principal Thomas “Nate” Collins during its meeting on April 11 at the T.C. Walker Education Center. 

Collins’s resignation is effective June 30. He said he has accepted the position of principal at Robert E. Lee High School in Staunton, which will allow him to be closer to family members. Collins has been the principal at GHS since July 2014. 

Resignations were also accepted from Page Middle School assistant principal Roger “Butch” Gross, effective May 26, and Petsworth Elementary teacher Julie Shrum, effective at the end of the school year. 

A resignation was additionally accepted from support employee Lorenzo Hearn, effective May 5.  

Retirement was approved for GHS teacher Lawrence Heatwole and GHS library media specialist Angela Saunders, both effective July 1.
