GHS, MHS wrestling

Gloucester and Mathews wrestlers faced off on Saturday at MHS during a tri-meet with Poquoson. Poquoson ended up winning both dual meets, defeating Gloucester, 42-33, and Mathews by a 50-18 margin. The Dukes also defeated Mathews when those two teams went head to head, winning 40-21. In the top photo, Gloucester’s Austin Glockner controls Brady Wright of Mathews. Glockner won the bout, 12-2. Below, Joshua Rosadino of Mathews is shown making his move on a Poquoson foe. Rosadino and fellow MHS senior Tyler Schaller are perfect on the year with 6-0 records. As a team, Mathews went 1-3 last week and moved to 3-3 on the year. Glockner, a returning state runner-up, went 2-0 on the day, as did Ethan Baker and Ashton Flaherty. Other Gloucester wrestlers scoring wins by pin included Fenton Taylor, Gage Powell, Josh Seaton and Dougie Pruim.
