Are you ready for some football?

Even though we are in the dog days of summer, it won’t be that long until the teams line up for the opening kickoff of the 2018 season. Last Thursday, the Virginia High School League released its master football schedule for the year.

Gloucester

The Gloucester Dukes will open its season at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25 against Woodside. Additional away games will be played against York (Aug. 31, 7 p.m.), Denbigh (Sept. 20, 7 p.m.), Warwick (Oct. 6, 1 p.m.) and Menchville (Oct. 13, 1 p.m.).

The team’s first home game will be on Friday, Sept. 7 against Heritage. Other home games are against Kecoughtan (Sept. 12), Bethel (Sept. 28), Phoebus (Oct. 19) and Hampton (Oct. 26). All home games will be played at 7 p.m. Gloucester doesn’t have a game scheduled the final week before post-season play begins. The only non-district game is against York.
