GHS, MHS celebrate homecoming

Homecoming weekend is here.

Both Gloucester and Mathews high schools will celebrate homecoming, beginning with a parade along Gloucester’s Main Street at 5:15 tonight.

The parade begins at Gloucester’s Main Street Center and ends at Botetourt Elementary. Parade organizers will have buses taking children to and from the parade in order to reduce traffic congestion in the Main Street area. Students will walk the parade route to clean up anything that is left behind by the parade. 

Mathews will hold its homecoming parade at 4 o’clock Friday, from Thomas Hunter Middle School to MHS.

For both schools, the homecoming festivities will move to the football field on Friday with a pair of games starting at 7 o’clock. Gloucester will host the Warwick Raiders, while Mathews will take on the King and Queen Tigers. The crowning of a homecoming king and queen will take place during halftime of both of those games.
