GHS Latin students participate in state convention

Gloucester High School Latin students participated in the 2011 Virginia Junior Classical League State Convention Nov. 20 and 21 at the Convention Center in Richmond.

The GHS delegation took second place in the Spirit Contest in the small school division category supporting the theme "Dimidium facti qui coepit habet—He who has begun has half the deed done." Individually, the Gloucester delegates placed as follows in academic and graphic arts competitions:

Joni Jeter—second place, reading comprehension level I; fourth place, derivatives level I; fifth place, mottoes level I; and first place, ornaments 11th grade.

Nancy Milroy—fourth place, reading comprehension level I; ninth place, Latin vocabulary level I; seventh place, derivatives level I; and greeting cards, second place 11th grade.

Casey Keller—ninth place, reading comprehension level II and mosaics, 10th grade.
