GHS jayvee field hockey, 7-0

The Gloucester High School junior varsity field hockey team won the ninth annual CLK JV Tournament at Henrico High School and went on to score a pair of shutouts this week, 10-0 in each game, against New Kent and Kecoughtan. Coach Joe Dougherty’s girls have a 7-0 record, outscoring their opponents 62 goals to none.

The Lady Dukes, now 7-0, led off with a 13-goal shutout of Thomas Dale High School and followed it up with a 6-0 win over Hope High School in the championship game.

In the tournament, Abygail Clayton led the offensive rush with three goals while Bayleigh Andersen, Alexis Cruz, Mackenzie Wheeler and Chrissy Masiak each had two. 

Lily Perger, Alanna Womack, Kailee Morris and Hannah Williams each chipped in a goal and Heaven Remski, Kiley Parker, Leigha Germain and goalkeeper Kareena Ferguson, who left the cage for some field time, contributed their first goals of the season.
