GHS Invitational returns after 10-year absence

The Gloucester High School Invitational Track Meet returned on April 30 after a 10-year absence. More than 300 athletes participated, representing nine girls’ teams and 10 boys’ teams.

Group A teams participating were Greenbrier Christian Academy, Mathews and Lancaster. Bruton was the only Group AA school and Group AAA competitors came from Bethel, Denbigh, Menchville, Warwick, Woodside and GHS.

On the girls’ side, Bethel won the meet with 103 points, followed by Mathews with 97, Lancaster with 70, Warwick with 67 and the host Lady Dukes in fifth place with 55. For the boys, Warwick was first with 122 points, followed by Gloucester with 70, Woodside with 62, Lancaster with 56 and Denbigh with 54.

Among Gloucester results, Elisabeth Drake won the mile race in 5:52.45, Alex Londenberg won the junior varsity 1600 meter race, Drake was second in the 300m hurdles in 53.51, Jazmine Banks was third in the discuss with 82’8.50", the 400m relay team of Khadi...
