GHS indoor track competes in district meet

The Gloucester High School indoor track and field team competed in the fourth Peninsula District meet last Wednesday, Feb. 2 at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton. At the event, multiple Dukes found themselves finishing top of their events.

Leo Berry had a productive day, taking first in both the boys’ 1000-meter run with a time of 2:54.57 and in the boys’ 1600-meter run at 5.07.88. Also in the 1600-meter run, Clayton Miller finished in second with a time of 5:15.16.Tanner Baker took first place in the boys’ 3200-meter run with a time of 10:12.78. Second place in the 3200-meter went to fellow Duke, Joel Junker who finished with a time of 11:02.12. Also in the 3200-meter, Joshua Pinder finished in fourth at 12:09.34.

In the boys’ triple jump, Xavier Johnson finished third with a distance of 34’ 2.5” and Gavyn Talbot finished fifth with a distance of 32’4”. In boys’ shot put, Jaylen Holmes finished third with a distance of 40’11.5”.
