GHS indoor track athletes open season in Hampton

Gloucester High School track athletes opened the indoor season with a meet Monday at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton. Coach John Perrin said the GHS results were good overall. 

In the 3200 relay, Lydia Hart, Ruby Williams, Brooke Cheatham and Laura Tobin were third overall in 11:35.72. Mia Robinson was second in the 500-meter race in 1:26.65 and Lauren Hill was fourth in 1:28.28.

For the GHS boys, Maxx Polk, Brady Barefoot, Martaine Morris and Antonio Morales were sixth in the 200-meter event and Josh Shackelford, Chase Holland, Noah Boundurant and David Sadikov were fourth in the 3200 relay. The athletes will host the fourth annual GHS Pre-Holiday Indoor Track and Field Invitational tomorrow beginning at 3 p.m. and Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. at the Boo Williams Sportsplex. Thirty-nine schools are expected to participate, Perrin said. 

Also, Shackelford closes his cross country season this weekend at the 2015 USATF XC Junior Olympics in Albuquerque, New Mexico....
