GHS homecoming parade tonight

The Gloucester High School homecoming parade will step off at 5:15 tonight, Thursday, Sept. 28, from Main Street Center. The parade will travel along Main Street, ending at Botetourt Elementary School.

Recently retired Gloucester County Public Schools superintendent Dr. Walter R. “Rick” Clemons will serve as this year’s parade’s grand marshal. A native of Smithfield, Clemons served in the field of public education for over three decades, including his last nine as head of Gloucester County schools. He has also been a band director, assistant principal and assistant superintendent.

Clemons was named the Virginia’s Superintendent of the Year and the Region III Superintendent of the Year for 2023. He was also named as a Virginia Superintendent of the Year in 2021 and named the Region III Superintendent of the Year in 2018 by the Virginia Association of School Superintendents.
