GHS homecoming next week

Gloucester High School will celebrate its homecoming next week, beginning with a parade down Main Street on Thursday, Oct. 17.
The parade starts at 5:15 p.m., beginning at Main Street Center and ending at Botetourt Elementary School. John Hutchinson is this year’s grand marshal.
Hutchinson served GHS as a science teacher and track coach from 1992 to 1997 and as an assistant principal from 1997 to 2004. He then went on to serve the entire school district as Assistant Superintendent from 2006 until his retirement at the end of last school year.
The GHS homecoming game on Friday, Oct. 18, will pit the Gloucester Dukes against Hampton. The Touchdown Club and SCA are sponsoring the tailgate before the game from 5-7 p.m. There will be music, food, and fun, a release stated.
Kickoff against the visiting Crabbers will be at 7 o’clock. At the halftime show, the homecoming king and queen will be crowned, and feature a performance by the award-winning Gloucester Marching Dukes band.
