GHS homecoming festivities to be held next week

Gloucester High School will begin its 2012 homecoming festivities next week with Spirit Week, when the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes will compete for the spirit stick in a variety of activities.

On Friday, Oct. 5, the homecoming parade will begin at 4:45 p.m. and run from Newington Baptist Church south to Main Street Center. Parade entry forms are available on the GHS website and will be accepted until Oct. 1.

Children participating in the parade will gather at a safe zone in the Walmart parking lot and be transported to Newington by bus. After the parade, they will be bused back to the safe zone at Walmart for pickup.

The homecoming football game with Hampton begins at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 and the coronation of the 2012 homecoming court will be held at halftime. A homecoming dance will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 6 at GHS.
