GHS harriers run in Va. Junior Olympic race

Gloucester High School cross country harriers continued post-season competition at the USATF Virginia Junior Olympic Championships at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville on Nov. 15. 

Three Gloucester athletes placed in the top 15 and earned the opportunity to compete in the USATF XC Junior Olympics Championships in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Dec. 13. 

For the boys, Andrew Wible was 16th in the 15-16 age division 5K with a time of 22:16.55. In the 13-14 age division 4K, Joshua Shackelford was fifth in 15:47.77 and Aaron Shipe was 18th in 17:03.27.

For the girls, Chasity Lass was third in the 13-14 4K in 17:35.42 and Erin Bristow was fifth in 18:35.42.  On Saturday, the GHS runners gained more experience in the Footlocker South Region Championship Meet at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C., competing against runners from 13 states and two U.S. territories.
