GHS harriers open 2017 season

The Gloucester High School cross country team opened its 2017 season with the Al Dorner Invitational on Saturday at Newport News Park.

Gloucester’s Joshua Shackelford won the boys’ varsity A race in 16:07 to lead the Dukes to a 13th place finish overall. Nicholas McGlone was 65th in 18:20, Michael Toms was 76 in 18:40 and Joshua Ipock was 77th in 18:40.01.

Also, Christopher Potter was 80th in 18:44, Colton Spence was 90th in 19:09 and Andrew Wible was 99th in 19:55.

Tanner Baker won the boys’ junior varsity race in 18:04 and helped the jayvees finish sixth overall. Austin Cunningham was 31st, Connor O’Beirne was 52nd, Devon Pearce was 62nd, Trent Fox was 79th and Sam Briscoe was 80th.  For the Gloucester girls, Ruby Williams was 48th in 21:53 in the varsity A race, Alyssa Lass was 50th in 21:55, Makala White was 53rd in 22:06, Megan McGee was 76th in 23:19, Katherine Saunders was 81st in 23:38 and Gibson Hylton was 89th in 24:04.
